This world is all about the TV shows, Battlestar Galactica and Quantum Leap. They are together because Quantum Leap was inspired by an episode of Battlestar Galactica; plus QL's creator was a supervising producer on BG. This world also contains spoilers for these shows, especially their endings. Visit at your own discretion.
Battlestar Galactica

Battlestar Galactica follows the premise that humans came from the planet Kobol, and that it's citizens headed out into space to settle new worlds. 12 worlds were settled, each named after a symbol of the Zodiac. For 7,000 years mankind thrived. But, a few millennia ago, humans came to the aid of an alien race, who were being threatened by the Cylon Empire, a group of Reptilian aliens. This made the Cylons very mad, and they declared war on all humans everywhere. Over time, the Cylons vanished, but they built robots to carry on their cause. Now, the Cylons follow one basic order. Destroy all humans.

After all the years of war, the show begins with the humans and Cylons agreeing to peace. But the Cylons have lied, and as the humans gather to make it final, the Cylons viciously attack. They destroy 4 of the 5 battlestars present (battlestars are a cross between an aircraft carrier, and a battleship.) Only the Galactica is left, as well as many other lesser ships. Then the Cylons attack the 12 colonies. When everything is over, the Galactica's Commander, Adama, orders all surviving ships to head back, and gather up as many refugees as possible. Finally, Galactica is ready to lead a fleet of 220 ships, called the Rag Tag Fleet, to safety. Knowing that the Cylons now rule the star system of the 12 colonies, Adama has only one hope left. To lead the fleet to the planet settled by the legendary 13th colony. A planet called Earth. Unfortunately, the Cylons continue to dog Galactica and her charges along the way.

The show follows the adventures of Captain Apollo (Adama's son), and Lieutenant Starbuck, two colonial warriors, as they help keep the Rag Tag Fleet safe. Together, along with their comrades in Blue Squadron (and the other squadrons), they fight the Cylons, and head to planets to search for supplies, and clues to lead the way to Earth.

Along the way, they meet up with a race of aliens so advanced, they are mere spirits, and live in a different dimension. These Aliens of Light are believed to be cousins of man, who evolved far more than those on Kobol ever did, seeming to live for thousands of years (as opposed to the 200 year life of the colonists.) It is these aliens whom we get God and the Devil from. These aliens also give Galactica a major clue to finding Earth. Later on, they meet humans from the planet Terra (which means Earth in a colonial language.) The Aliens of Light send Apollo down to Terra to help stop a big war from destroying everyone. Terra is divided into two factions, the East and West Allegiances. The Eastern Allegiance just promised to sign a peace treaty, but really plan to destroy their enemies (they are in fact a human equivalent of the Cylon Empire.) It is up to Apollo and Starbuck to save the day. Terra also gives hope to one day finding Earth, because it was so far out in space, it could only have been settled by the 13th tribe, and not by anyone from the 12 colonies.

The series ends with Apollo finding a gamma signal (an ancient signal no longer used) that he believes is from Earth. While trying to track the signal down (Adama fears it's aCylon trick), they have to destroy a Cylon Basestar (massive apple core shaped ship) to continue. They succeed, but can't trace where the signal is from. Apollo tries to find another, but eventually gives up, and misses a better signal (humans landing on the Moon.)

The show returned for a third season, but was a follow up series, entitled Galactica 1980. Galactica and the Rag tag Fleet had finally found Earth. Unfortunately though, many lives had been lost; the Cylons stopped attacking and decided to follow Galactica to Earth; and worse of all, Earth wasn't technologically advanced enough to help stop the Cylons (it was only 1980, after all). And Galactica had lead the Cylons right to Earth's doorstep. Fortunately, the Cylons were too far away to know Earth's exact location, so Galactica headed out to lead them away, and sent out squadrons to be a decoy as other ships head to Earth.

The show was now about the efforts to make contact with prominent scientists, so they could secretly advance Earth to the point that they can defend themselves against the Cylon Empire. Various teams are sent around the world. The show focuses on Captain Troy (who's little Boxey all grown up, and following in Apollo's footsteps), and his friend, Lieutenant Dillon. To help them out, the brilliant Dr. Z (a young child born during the lengthy voyage) devises motorcycles that can fly, a database with definitions of all Earth terms, and a device which could turn people and vehicles invisible. Earth also has a lesser gravitational pull then Galactica did, so they are also super strong, and can jump super high. They manage to befriend an Earth scientist, Dr. Mortinson, and woman, Jamie Hamilton, who aids them in appearing Earthlike.

There are also several complications to their mission. The air force is on to them, and know that they're aliens. The police are after them for supposedly kidnapping the scientist, stealing police cars (on several occasions), and Dillon's accidental robbing of a bank. Added to that, a Cylon attack on one ship in the fleet results in 12 Galactican children having to live on Earth ahead of schedule (disguised as a scout troop), and the constant threat of the Cylons finding Earth (which one ship does, and they radio their fleet!) Also, complicating matters further, is a rogue Galactican, Xavier, who tries on several occasions to go back in time and speed up the development of Earth's technology, so Earth can help defeat the Cylons when the Galactica arrives. However, he now seems to be stranded in the present.

The Galacticans still have their Vipers (though now they are two seaters) and undoubtedly their once captured Cylon Fighter, but the Cylons have advanced even more. They have faster ships, antigravity ships (which the Galacticans build one of) and humanoid machines, more advanced than their Centurion predecessors.

The series lasted only 10 episodes, and ended by revealing what happened to Starbuck (the last we see of Troy and Dillon is them flying off on yet another mission), as told by Dr. Z, as a dream he just had. It seems that while out patrolling the area, Cylons attack. Starbuck's Viper is hit, and he is forced to crash on a planet. Since the Cylons are out in force, the Galactica has no choice but to forever press on, leaving Starbuck marooned forever. He finds a Cylon Fighter he destroyed, and revives the Cylon Squad Leader, Syrius. Amazingly, they befriend each other. Then one day Sy brings Starbuck a pregnant lady, Angela, who claims that her child is Starbuck's spiritual child, and that she is from another dimension (perhaps she is an Alien of Light.) She also knows what is to come. Starbuck and Sy build a spaceship out of parts from both ships, and just as more Cylons arrive, Angela and her child blast off, following the preprogrammed secret course of the Galactica. Starbuck is left to face the three Cylons alone, until Sy shows up and kills two, before getting fatally shot himself. Starbuck kills the last one, and is left all alone once more. The ship reaches the Galactica, where only the baby is left. This "child of the stars" turns out to be Dr. Z, though his true origins still remain unknown.

Interestingly enough, Galactica 1980 picks up years after Battlestar Galactica ended, but it is unknown how many years later. It is hinted in Galactica 1980 to be 30 years, and Boxey is indeed now in his thirties, yet Battlestar Galactica ended with them receiving an Earth signal: a TV transmission of man's first walk on the moon. That was July 1969, making it only 11 years later. Unless the signal, or the fleet, went through a time portal, it's obviously a goof on the writers part.

Not much is known about what happened to the majority of the original cast. Only a few are mentioned, so I'm adding my opinion to whatever happened to them.

Apollo - Was killed. Dillon bills him as the best warrior ever. I like to believe he died in a heroic fashion, enabling the Galactica and her fleet to escape to freedom, even though it costs him his life.

Starbuck - Marooned on a planet, which he names Starbuck. Why he never uses the Cylon ship to escape is unknown. Perhaps he did, but never reached the Galactica. He also never learns that he had finally found his dad (who kept his identity a secret to keep Starbuck from quitting the Colonial Warriors and aiding him in reuniting families separated during the many Cylon attacks.) He also is marooned after Apollo's death.

Boomer - Promoted to Colonel. Divides time between fighting in space, and over seeing the Galactica.

Sheba - Unknown. Boxey hints that many of Blue Squadron are gone now. I believe she married Apollo before he died.

Athena - Unknown. I believe she is still alive.

Cassiopia - Unknown. I believe she is still alive and is now a doctor.

Colonel Tigh - Unknown. I believe he died, and hence why Boomer assumed his duties.

Adama - Still alive. He now shares leadership with Dr. Z.

Jolly - Unknown. I believe he, and most of Blue Squadron, died during a viscous Cylon attack, while allowing the Galactica and her fleet to escape.

Though Battlestar Galactica lasted only one years, and Galactica 1980 lasted only 10 episodes, it was still a good and popular series. In 1993, there was a Galactica 15 Yahren Reunion convention. Quantum Leap is a time travel show with an interesting twist. The traveler "leaps" in and out of people's auras, to help put right what once went wrong. The other twists is that the objective of each "leap" is to change history, which is something usually frowned upon when time traveling.

The show focuses on Dr. Sam Beckett, a brilliant man who has a theory on time travel. Imagine that your life is like a string looped together. Every day of your life is on this string. Ball it up, and the days touch each other out of order. Thus time travel within one's own lifetime is possible. Sam builds a device capable of sending someone through time, andtries it himself. He is sent back to 1956, but discovers that he is no longer in his own body. Everyone back then sees and hears the guy he leapt into. Even the mirror shows Sam a different reflection. What's worse, leaping has caused a partial amnesia effect, referred to as a swiss cheesed brain. Sam's only guide is his friend Al, who appears in the form of a hologram that only Sam can see and here (plus young kids, animals, and mentally challenged people, all who exist in an alpha wave state, which enables the hologram to be seen.) Their AI super computer Ziggy determines that the only way to leave any given time frame is to change history for the better.

So Sam now finds himself leaping throughout history, putting right what once went wrong, in an attempt to return home. As time goes on, Sam and Al learn that God has taken control of the leaping, and it is His idea to have Sam change history. Sam also runs into an evil leaper, Alea, who's job is to change history for the worse, as ordered by the Devil. Although Sam rescues Alea, her holographic guide assumes the role of evil leaper, and so the battle between good and evil continues. They also determine that Sam leaps into people's auras, while his own body stays with him. This means he is actually back in time, though he appears to everybody as the person he leapt into.

Throughout his journeys, Sam leaps into men, women, children, his own young self, a young Al, a chimp, and gets spiritually switched with Al. He was also supposed to leap into a cartoon character the final season, but that episode was never shown.

The show ended after 3 seasons (taking place over 4 years for Sam and Al, with the first season lasting 3 years, and the rest taking only from Sept. to Dec. (if even).) The final had Sam leap into himself (finally) at the same exact moment his baby self was born. Finding himself in a bar in a mining town run by a guy named Al, Sam discovers that everybody there looks likes someone he met in a previous leap, as well as a few of them having names of his friends back in his home time. What's more, Bartender Al knows exactly who is leaping Sam, and why. Despite several episodes clearing revealing it is a battle between good and evil, Bartender Al claims Sam is controlling it all. He can't return home because he feels guilty about not helping to change hologram Al's life for the better, because it wasn't his mission. Sam finally gets a chance to change Al's life for the better, and leaps once more (shown strangely as a picture of a young Al leaping, perhaps a reflection of Sam's leap, or perhaps showing history changing.) Unfortunately, Sam never returns home.

While going about through history, Sam happens to prove the existence of many doubted/debated beings. Here now is a list I have compiled of beings this show "proves" the existence of:

God

The Devil

Angels

Heaven

Hell

Bigfoot

Ghosts

Aliens

Vampires

Quantum Leap is actually based off an episode of Battlestar Galactica, entitled Experiment in Terra. Here now is a comparison of the episode(BG) to the series(QL):

BG)Apollo lands on Terra, but everybody sees and hears him as a lost astronaut named Charlie. (QL)Sam leaps into the auras of people, and everybody sees and hears him as that person.

(BG)Apollo sees himself in the mirror. (QL)Sam sees the person he's leapt into in the mirror.

(BG)Apollo is guided by John, an advanced being who appears as a reflection of a person, that only Apollo can see and hear. (QL)Sam is guided by Al, a man in their own time, who appears as a hologram, that only Sam can see and hear. (Both shows slightly disobey this rule, as in BG, Starbuck joins Apollo and can see and hear John, and in QL, Al can be seen by kids, animals, and the mentally challenged.

(BG)Apollo must stop a war from destroying everyone on Terra. (QL)Sam must change history for the better.
